Premium Kashmiri Saffron

From flower to jar

From the bloom to your kitchen

Saffron is the most labour-intensive spice in the world. This is how it reaches you.

  1. Saffron crocus flowers in bloom with red stigmas01

    In bloom

Saffron crocus flowers bloom once a year, in autumn, for just a few weeks.

  2. Red saffron stigmas, the threads that become saffron02

    Only the red stigma

Each flower gives just three red threads. That is saffron. About 150 flowers make one gram.

  3. Zarif Kesar Premium Kashmiri Saffron 1 g glass jar with purple seal03

    Selected and sealed

We choose every batch for colour and aroma, and pack it in airtight jars in Pampore.

  4. A glass of kesar milk and a bowl of saffron kheer04

    Into your kitchen

A few threads colour a whole pot of kheer, kesar doodh or biryani.

Our promise

Don’t just trust us. Check it.

Saffron is one of the most faked foods. We would rather teach you how to judge it than ask you to take our word for it.

  • Colour comes out slowly

Real saffron turns warm water golden over 10–15 minutes, never red in seconds.

  • A trumpet-shaped tip

Each real thread flares open at one end. Dyed fakes look flat and cut.

  • Sweet smell, bitter taste

A honey-like aroma, but a slightly bitter taste on the tongue.

  • 48-hour claim window

Damaged, wrong or not as described? Replacement or full refund.

FAQ

Questions we hear often

Still unsure? We reply on WhatsApp, Monday to Saturday.

Ask us on WhatsApp
Where does this saffron come from?

Our Premium Kashmiri Saffron is from Kashmir. Our Signature Saffron is a carefully selected imported grade. The country of origin is in the Specifications on each product page and printed on the label.

How can I check that it is real?

Drop 3–4 threads in warm water. Real saffron releases a golden colour slowly over 10–15 minutes and the thread stays red. See all five home tests in our Real vs Fake guide.

How much should I use?

Very little. 6–8 threads soaked in 2–3 tablespoons of warm milk or water for 15–20 minutes are enough for 3–4 servings.

How should I store it?

Keep the jar tightly closed in a cool, dry, dark place, away from moisture, heat and sunlight. Do not refrigerate an opened jar. The best-before date is printed on the pack.

How long does delivery take?

Orders are usually dispatched within 1–2 business days. Most arrive within 3–7 business days of dispatch. Delivery is free on orders of ₹1,499 and above, otherwise a flat ₹99. Shipping policy

What if something is wrong with my order?

If it arrives damaged, wrong, or not as described, tell us within 48 hours of delivery with photos and we will replace it or refund you in full. Returns policy

Do you give a GST invoice?

Yes. Zarif Kesar is GST-registered (GSTIN 01CDMPT1374B2ZS) and every order comes with a GST invoice.

Can I order in bulk or for a wedding?

Yes. See our Wholesale and Corporate gifting pages, or message us on WhatsApp.
